SPM 2014 Physics Paper 1 Answers Revealed

The overall paper 1 questions are set up to standard. Here are few questions up for debate

Q8. This question is good to differentiate A+ students from the rest, you must 1st know the gravity is -10, and then use v2 = u2 + 2as.

Q12. a tricky one, by moving the bottle deeper will increase the pressure. P = hpg

Q14. this question will test whether the student knows density of salt water is higher than water is higher than oil. therefore affects the distance.

Q25. Good question to test concept of optics.

Q26. another tricky one which you need to know clearly which is angle of incidence and which is angle of refraction, both are against the normal.

  11. For Question 20, isn't C the correct answer also? When thermal equilibrium is reached, there will be no flow of heat, right?

    1. There will be flow of heat between the spoon and the bowl but the NET flow of heat will be zero.

    2. I agree w u, it is said in the book too & it sounds more scientific-ish

    3. Right?

I chose D at first but later changed it to C :( adoiii.

    4. Oh and I also googled it and this is what I got from Wikipedia: "Two physical systems are in thermal equilibrium if no heat flows between them when they are connected by a path permeable to heat"

I think both answers are correct :/

    7. must no net flow of heat ,is not flow of heat

    8. NO. there'll be no net heat TRANSFER between the two bodies in contach.. not no flow of heat..

  12. How about no16? Isnt the speed at X is faster thus lower pressure?

  19. No.24 why not A? It stated he moves 1m away from miror?

    ReplyDelete
  20. No.20 i think C is also acceptable right?Because it doesn't state what type of spoon they used.I ask my physics teacher and he told me that if it is no state that what type of spoon they used,so C is also acceptable. Correct me if i m wrong :)

Sigh, got it wrong too. Let's just move on.. :/

    1. Why would a doctor wanna keep radioactive stuff for so long? Lol

    2. Hospitals use radioactive substances that have low half-life

    3. how do we suppose to know whether the low level radioactive waste is an alpha or beta? what is actually meant by 'low level' n 'high level' ? help needed plss!!

      Delete
    4. if the half-life is short, it can decay faster and it will release no harmful daughter nuclei which will harm the people. If it release no harmful substance, so we do not need to keep it as waste

  23. 47/50 omg im so happy rn :')

  24. It is proven that no.20 the answer is C because the material of the spoon is not stated so it can be assumed to be porcelain, plastic etc. If the ans. is D, then the spoon cannot be picked up to even drink the soup. Simple logic. ;) Hope this helps.

    1. Ermm , u think spm will be so complicated? Its obvious that they want to test you the difference btween net transfer of heat flow or heat flow and they will not be in thermal equilibrium, if they do not have the same temperature

      Delete
    2. How the heck is it proven to be C when you are only using your logic?
Who actually wait for thermal equilibrium to be reached before taking a sip?
Besides, logically speaking it is impossible for there to be no transfer of heat at all between two object...while zero net transfer of heat is possible

  25. is that possible for me to get A if I wrong 10 ques ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Definitely possible... after all, 10/180 is only 5.56 mark out of 100, usually 85+ mark in spm is already enough for A+. Must do well in paper 2 and 3 though,,,

  27. I got 47/50 :) Q25 , i got it right but is not sure if the answer is really B...

  29. I got 45 hehee.. But Q12 should be a bonus as shorten the string will decrease the depth of the bottle

  32. Can i score A+ if p1 score 45/50 but P2 pick wrong answer for Q11?(the ans is fast train L, but i pick K) :-(

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As long as you got near perfect score for other areas, you still stand a chance for A+. For the train question, the worst case scenario is you lose all 10 marks, which I doubt u did. (10+5)/180 and u still only lose 8.3 marks out of 100...

  33. got 48/50 !! woooot praying that I'll get at least an A if not an A+ >-<

  34. I have a question about Q19.I pick answer B at the question because the log are not fully immerse into the water.I mean it still have a part of log is on the surface of water. It also mean that the water displace not equal to log's weight. So the buoyant force might be bigger than the weight log so that a part of log will at the water surface. The good example is the sampan. The only way for me to explain my answer is wrong is we say the weight is not the weight of log but weight of water displace.....
i asking this just want to know about the physics concept and didn't mean something. Thank you....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree with you , I choose B too.
      Float in water (buoyant force=weight)
Float on the surface of water (buoyant force>weight)
      Sink (buoyant force<weight)

The question mention that the log is float on the surface of water :)

    - during day time ,the hot air from land rise up.
-the sea is cooler than land .

my mark will be deducted .? can someone answer me ,i very scared TTTT

  39. I think Q16 should be D because velocity at X is higher than at Y so the pressure would be weaker at X than at Y. ?

    1. it is an inverted aerofoil shape. therefore, the speed at Y is higher
